Dubai Emerging As New Hollywood?

There’s a chance that we’re witnessing the beginning of a trend.

Dubai, one of the richest countries in the country, may be becoming the new place to be for celebrities.  And, if you ask anyone who lives there year round, it’s a beautiful place to be during the non-summer months.

Since it is November, celebrities are flocking to Dubai to party.  The most recent instance of this happened this weekend, when the following celebs conveined and celebrated the opening of new Atlantis Palm Resort on one of the country’s many man-made islands.

The following people attended the party: Robert DeNiro, Lindsay Lohan and girlfriend Samantha Ronson, Mischa Barton, Mary-Kate Olson, Gerard Butler, Charlize Theron and boyfriend Stuart Townsend, Lily Allen, supermodel Agyness Deyn and boyfriend (not to mention guitarist of The Strokes) Albert Hammond Jr., NBA GM Michael Jordan and international superstar Janet Jackson.

Wait, there’s more.

I think, getting back to the title of this post, that it’s a little soon to say that Dubai is the new place to be for celebrities.  There’s no doubt that all of the people who traveled into Dubai for the party were paid huge fees to do so.  And if we know anything about celebrity culture, it’s that most will do just about anything for a little coin.
