We’ve Moved!

Because of my lack of skill with CSS and HTML, I screwed up IsThisItX.com.  What I’ve done is picked a site title I like better – RipcordNews.com – and started a new site on that URL  It’s the same basic mission statement of the site – entertainment news that matters – but less sucking up to The Strokes.

So please read me on Ripcord, and follow RipcordNews.com at twitter.com/ripcordnews.  It will make me feel good.

And click on some ads on Ripcord too.  I’m poor.

Kate Winslet Vows To Keep Top On (America Weeps)

Ever since Titanic, Kate Winslet has become infamous for her willingness to show her boobs.

I like this about her.

But I don’t like her recent interview where she said that she would probably keep her top on from this point forward. Of course, “this point” means post-Oscar victory for The Reader, where she was naked for a good chunk of the movie.

“A) I can’t keep getting away with it, and b) I don’t want to become ‘that actress who always gets her kit off,'” Winslet told Time in a recent interview.

In response to point A, I say that it’s too late. She has already appeared naked in tons of films – including Titanic, The Reader and Little Children. Her boobs are melted into my mind, and they aren’t going anywhere.

“With these roles [the ones where she gets naked, I presume], I’ve just closed a big chapter in my life,” she tells Time. “I feel that only in the last two years could I look someone in the eye and say, ‘I know how to act’ and really maybe mean it.”
All things considered, I think that Kate keeping her top on as she moves into her mid-30s (and beyond) might be a good thing. I speak for all men in saying that I don’t want to see Kate’s low-swingers when she’s 42 and playing the role of a seductive high school English teacher.  No thanks. I’ll stick to her movies and Google images.

Jon Stewart Crushes CNBC

At this moment in time, The Daily Show is the best late-night show on television.

This is one of the many reasons why…

Update: CNBC has stayed quiet over the brutal attack.

Lil Wayne’s ‘Prom Queen’ Video Debuts

A little more than a month ago, the first single off of Lil Wayne’s much-anticipated rock album leaked.  “Prom Queen” received mix reviews, mostly because it was compared to Tha Carter III, which was one of the best records (if not the best) of the year.

Today, the video for “Prom Queen” came out and it’s entertaining, I guess.

Here’s the video (thanks to Newbornrodeo.com for the tip)…

There has been one other track to leak off of the rock album, and it also doesn’t touch Tha Carter III. But it’s better than what 95% of artists are putting out.  Listen to “Hot Revolver,” another leaked track, here…

Lauren Conrad Quits ‘The Hills’

Lauren Conrad is not coming back to The Hills after the fifth season, the producer of the MTV show has confirmed.

Liz Gately – the producer on all five seasons of The Hills – says that Conrad will not be back because she wants to live a more private life. The first episode of The Hills’ fifth season premieres on March 30, and Gately says that the show will definitely give a large sign-off to its star.

I don’t watch The Hills, so it’s tough to say what the dynamic will be once Conrad departs.  But Gately says that the producers will reevaluate the fate of the show once Conrad leaves.  The thing to take away from this is that Conrad leaving The Hills just months after Whitney Port left the show doesn’t automatically mean that it’s dead.  Audrina and Speidi (or whatever their stupid couple name is), who don’t figure to have any future after The Hills, are probably in favor of sticking around as long as possible.  Continue reading
